Cheers Gents, much appreciated.

Got these blokes en route, the three ARVN will get the BDQ Ranger treatment, not sure what to do with Norman...

Well, old Norman was an advisor to the ARVN airborne so that gives you quite a range of palette options, including a variation on the British windproof pattern, still worn on occasion both by paras and their advisors into the middle/late sixties.

I'm thinking his hat should be green, might go ERDL on his uniform...

In the photo he's based on, it looks like he's wearing good ol' jungle fatigues and an ERDL patrol cap.  But ERDL or even tiger stripes for his uniform would look cool!

Mmm... Not had a go at 'Tiger Stripe' for a while, could try something a tad faded. Lots of room for the pattern...

Here's another, clearer, photograph of Scwarzkopf in Vietnam, this time meeting Westmoreland.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/13476480@N07/25040381517

He appears to be pretty much in the same outfit as in the photo with the wounded ARVN soldier, right down to the cap and shirt with Vietnamese jump wings. if you look carefully he, like the ARVN para on his left are both wearing Vietnamese brush stroke camo. Even his cap appears to be in the same material.

Naturally enough, you can paint in in whatever fashion you fancy, and there's almost limitless choice for advisors but the actual photos suggest brush stroke, so if you fancy another canvas for British windproof style camo but this time in Vietnam, here's your chance.

By the by, the Vietnamese troops in the wounded photo are all wearing Airborne insignia, it shows up on closer examination. Norman himself seems to have been toting a folding stock M2 carbine. Wounded bloke might be in camo, chap supporting him looks like he was in standard OG-107.

Well, that settles it then. Normans getting the ARVN version of 'brush stroke', inc the hat.
That Flickr picture is very handy, thanks a lot.

Just had a rummage through Google images and found this:

Some great pictures...

Indeed! Excellent reference!

I can attest to how hot the original windproof was. I used to have a pair of the trousers, which I used for tramping through the saltmarshes when I was young. It was really tough, canvas like material. Definitely windproof, which but not so breathable. Wish I still had them, they'd probably be worth a bob or two these days.

I suspect the Vietnamese probably printed the pattern on more climate suitable cloth.

Thanks Paul.

Latest ARVN pack arrived, added the three troops to my BDQ Ranger platoon.

Here's Norman sporting my attempt at 'bullet proof' camo...
