Picture hosting sites
« on: May 18, 2019, 07:40:40 PM »
Given the amount of time since Photobucket stopped allowing you to link pictures for free, people will have had a lot of time on other picture hosting platforms. Could I ask for peoples feedback and experience using different sites? Things such as free/costs, ease of use, picture resizing options, etc. Thanks in advance.

I swapped over to Imgur after photobucket. Have no complaints, it's straightforward and free.

Imgur has pretty much taken the top slot for me. It could use a tutorial since the site itself tries to become a social media platform, but its core foundation is still hosting images. There are a few build-in functions like trimming and rotation but most of all you can just copy the link to an image, past it here with the IMG tags, and it works.

I liked Imgur's link generating UI, but not its album one.

I sorta like Flickr. 1000 picture limit. Photo album and link generating UI are more complicated than I'd like.

Easiest way I’ve found is using a blog, I’ve now added a page just for random pictures & link those. It works for me.

I have a blog and use Imgur. I understand that blog hosts have picture limits but it can take years to reach them. I believe that is why some long running blogs, such as Shedwars blog, host their pictures on Photobucket or some such.

I use Blogger as well, then link to the images when I need them on here or other fora.
