The Sand Pebbles, San Pablo boat

Having bought some US sailors from Pulp Figures, I was wondering if there is a company that makes a San Pablo gunboat in 28mm (ish)!

It is going to be tough to find one.
I have the USS Oahu made by Richard Huston many years ago.
She is pretty close to the San Pablo.
You might check the web site TVAG.
He use to carry a number of hand made ships.
Also he may to point you to someone who could make you one.

SD Model Makers has built the USS San Pablo. Can build for your preferred scale. Probably costs a lot though!

How much interest would there be in a laser cut MDF model kit? There's a company in Oregon that would consider making that kit if there is enough interest.

I think a laser cut kit would be outstanding. Of course a lot depends on price.

I'd recommend looking at the scratch built 28mm ships by Byblos.
Failing that I'd happily talk you through a build its much simpler and cheaper than you'd think.I've a quick thread with a multipurpose card 28mm boat on pulp which covers all the base components of the ship your after. It may help you decide. But I would recommend looking at Byblos's builds they are full 28mm scale representations of ships.Wonderfully OTT for the average table top.But inspiring none the less.

There is a forum for anyone building the Sand Pebbles
http://www.thesandpebbles.com/messageboards/messageboard3.html
The French magazine MRB published plans in 1/45 scale - I think they are still available to buy if you cannot get a copy of the magazine.

Watched the movie last night and I'd swear there are at least two distinct ships being used in the movie - one has a very different bow form to the other. Going to have to watch parts again to determine if I'm 'seeing' things.

Oddly enough my buddy Dan who builds custom boats is working on a gamer friendly prototype of the gunboat for the Sand Pebbles type scenarios. He was just at Historicon and was asked by multiple gamers to build a San Pablo.
