Macedonian pikes are tough. For short trips by car I use a metal toolbox- the bottom bin is tall enough for pikes on magnetized trays. I usually put cavalry on top , light troops in the middle shelf, and phalangites in the bottom. It is very sturdy, but heavy. The other way if you have single based, then store them flat in a flat box. Plastics are very much lighter in weight but the pikes are woefully brittle. I suspect that a deeper plastic bin box will be best nowadays bu they get ungainly with lead figures. I have a plastic pike unit- some break on the way down from the cabinet upstairs down to the gaming table.
