Thank you!

I’m not exactly sure when I started mixing manufacturers like this.  I suspect it was when I first started my Montrose collection. Early to mid 17th century Irish and Highlanders were difficult to find so it was a figure or two from here and a figure or two from there. Also, in a warband of Highlanders I wanted as much variety as possible.  It has become a habit  :D

If you should ever want another range to mix in, have a look at the Warlord Games Wars of Religion gendarmes. They're nice sculpts (Paul Hicks). You might want to do something with their right arms, because they come with lances, but they look to be a pretty good match for the Perry ECW cuirassiers in my opinion.

Hi Paul - great suggestion.  I had completely overlooked them.  They do look rather nice. Do you know if the lance arms are separate?  Not a deal breaker as an open hand is a good start for conversion anyway.  I have a large stash of the Warlord plastic horses that I might substitute for the metal ones if they are too 'weedy'.

The right arm is cast on. One of the lancers has his lance at an angle which makes his arm rather more difficult to do something with. The horses are Ebob - nice enough in their own right but in a different design of harness from the Perry ECW cuirassiers.

Now you've done it.  Cracked open the mixed manufacturer can of worms, wide, wide open.  People are going to be...oh, wait, I've been doing this for years in 15 mm.  Never, ever understood the one manufacturer conceit that plaques so many in the hobby.  Well, I understand why the manufacturer's like it, naturally.  lol

Oh, and yes, nice figures and nice basing.

Here's one little trick I've used with cavalry units. If I'm using riders from different manufacturers I sometimes base them all on horses from just the one manufacturer. I find that it pulls them together a bit. The trick then is to find a manufacturer who makes horses in a sufficient number of variants of the type of pose you want.
