As it says 'Why no 3D printed trees?'  if there is one thing we all need it's cheap durable trees.

Yes; we need us some Tree-D! :D

Where are the Blender/CAD/Sketchup people? They have to sink some time into this!

Cheap, modular trees; think of the possibilites...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

As to the why, couldn't say for anyone else, but when I tried one with foliage, it ended so top heavy I needed to weight the base with some putty to keep it from falling over.  I've had much better luck with standing dead tree trunks.

As to who, Fat Dragon also has a set for sale and there's lots on thingiverse for free:

none of these are actually for sale though, you need a printer, why has no one made some so 'we' can actually buy them.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

It is the new trend.  You buy the files then, if you don't have your own printer, use a 3rd party service like Shapeways or more EU friendly 3dHubs (https://www.3dhubs.com/3d-printing/) to print them.  Files from a reliable and communicative creator are no problem and print OK.
But beware the bulk files from Kickstarters and such like, too easy to find yourself caught in the middle of a "it's the printers fault" vs "the CAD files are crap" argument with each blaming the other and you out of pocket.

Or annoyance,  when I go to Tesco's and ask for 5lb of spuds they don't say here's a packet of seeds now sod off and find a farmer.
I want a bag of trees ready to go.

I wouldn't bother printing trees simply because it would take so long. In the time it would take to print a platen full of tree skeletons, maybe four or six if I'm lucky, I could whip up twenty or thirty finished trees out of traditional materials like lavender root or the like and foam flock.

3d printing is a marvellous technology, but it's not the be-all and end-all...... yet.

I am with Fitz on this.  And the reason not for sale (in my opinion anyway): there are hundreds - if not thousands - of trees for sale without going to the trouble of printing them out.  Seems a fools errand as a business model.  But maybe for some very highly specialized trees.  Maybe.

Is there a specific reason you need a resin tree?  Just curious.

Just buy some BPM tanks, most of them have a curious bark like surface and might as well be trees. Add your own foliage.  ;)
