Some flouncy horse...
« on: June 23, 2009, 11:12:59 PM »
And another bunch of ECW / TYW era Horse who have just tumbled out of Deano's current painting comp for an early bath...  ::)

I feel a change of approach coming on  ;)

Possibly less white in the horses' eyes would do the trick...

Beatiful! :) I love the shadings in the blues and in the purple chap particularly.

The "300 Muscles" approach to the horses works quite well, though little less white on the eyes would surely help. Maybe even no white at all (but that is a personal opinion).

ECW draws me nearer and nearer with it's Siren's call... the June Wargames Illustrated only made matters worse. ARG! Must... resist... a new... project!!! ;)

Keep up the inspiring work Captain!

Really nice work  :-*

Lately, I changed my method for painting horses' eyes. I paint them all black and had just a little white spot as a "highlight". I think it look better that way.

Indeed,

You've mentioned you're armies are now almost complete.  Where are you headed next?

EDIT:  I don't expect any major changes in style really, which is stunning.  Direction yes, style no.  Hope I'm not wrong here...

Cave People next. Then Merchant seamen. Then more swashbucklers. Then Gebirgsjaeger. Then some aliens. Got to finish those Aztecs. I have already made a start on a whole batch of Glory of The Sun figures from Copplestone... Then I foolishly bought all the Black Scorpion pirates - even though I have 120 painted Foundry pirates... And people keep bringing out new ECW models which I cannot resist... Ho hum  ::)

In terms of a change of approach, for Mr Dean's painting comp, I am raising my game a little, and trying a different approach to my usual presentation...
We shall see...

Obviously it's just the taking part that counts though... Winning is unimportant to me...  ;)

Totally agree - wish I could paint a horse like that. Awesome

I always love the really bold colours you use for your stuff, Captain. It would never cross my mind to use them for military stuff.  :-*

Looking good, don't change a thing.

Your painting is distinctive, which in a competition means people readily identfy who painted the miniatures.  This can work both for & against you, depending on personal preferences.

As JollyBob said, don't change anything.  Your painting style sets your miniatures apart from others & is beautifully done.
Also, the presentation & photography is second to none, I wish I could get the consistently good results you do.  8)

You are too kind.
