What's the background on this? Was it a one off or a run of conversions? Where was it used? ...Was it actually used, or did you pull it out of your arse? ;)

Reprinted the wonkey barrel (It's only the front section from the taper forward) and bits for another two full guns last night.  Couple of bits failed (A trail leg and one of the barrels) but I need to print the rest of the other guns anyway.

I print the barrels vertically when I can but it takes a LOT longer.  With the gun parts as close to the build area as possible it takes 2 hours.  With the barrel vertical it takes 6 hours!

I print my gun barrels at about 45 to 65 degrees... when they‘re as long as yours they’d probably still be a little wonky but not as much as flat to the build plate.

Interesting. I had the same problem with some tanks barrels  (printed in ABS), I never thought printing them with some angle.

I'll just put an overnight print on with a load of barrels on.  Vertical  produces very clean straight barrels.  Just the bit on the build plate is wonky but that is just the joint with the breech

Turns out the Kanone 81/2 was used in action at the battle of the bulge.
6 batteries of 6 guns were used as artillery.

Got 5 orders for them now... apparently everyone likes a big gun...

Translated from Russian:
On October 25, 1944, at a meeting at Hitler’s headquarters, it was decided to install 52 PaK 80 barrels on French and Soviet gun carriages and use them as anti-tank guns.

On November 8, a separate 128-mm battery (12.8-cm Kanonen-Batterie) was approved, which included six K81 / 1 and K81 / 2 each.

By November 22, four similar units were formed: 1092, 1097, 1124th and 1125th batteries, which included only ten 128-mm guns (7 K81 / 2 and 3 K81 / 1). Subsequently, the number of guns in the batteries has increased, but the staff has not reached.

FYI
K81/1 is the PaK44 on french GPF Carriage
K81/2 is the PaK44 on Soviet ML-20 carriage
K81/3 is the PaK44 on the Krupp 4 wheeled carraige.

Going to see if I can find some combat history for the above batteries.

Well, I think this only makes sense on a resin printer...
