I've been tinkering with the AGON tabletop RPG rules to remove the player v player conflict but keep the general feel and the setting. By substituting the original rules for a modified D6 based story centred system that I was introduced to at UK Games Expo last week I came up with a quick, flavoursome and engaing game.
The report of our first foray, where the heroes must remove the tusks of the Ionian Boar without harming it, is here:

Very nicely painted hoplites. Are they from Bronze Age Miniatures?

I'm going to add these here since the original AGON project thread is long dead.
I've been finishing off my Greek collection recently. These four female Bronze Age warriors were in the first delivery of miniatures way back in the mists of time but I've finally got round to finishing them.
Socrates from Reaper is a newer acquisition and the boat, from Sarissa, is a Roman one because all the greek ones I could find were stupidly expensive. It'll do tp get the heroes around the islands.

Details of the original project are here:

The new system is here:

If I may ask, what is AGON. Is that short for something?

Beautiful. Really like how characterful these guys look thanks to their armor and heraldry.

And I love that boat.

Waiting for more AGON action.  I liked the last report.
The new ship and miniatures are great too.
Still, I don't really know what to make of these female figures.  The armour unrealistically covers all the vital areas of the body and none of them are showing off pneumatically enhanced cleavage.  lol lol

Mythical Greece and Stop Motion movies very much defined my youth. This project is a joy to behold and might give me the necessary push to continue painting those Mythic Battles minis I have been stock piling since their KS!

Bravo for this project!

Nope, AGON is the name of the RPG.

It was unsettling at first but I managed to cope by on;y painting them in short bursts :)

More adventures on the way in a couple of weeks, people are away with RL stuff at the moment and we don't have a full group.

The stories of the Stone of Songs and the Pool of the Spider Folk will follow in due course.

I like those centaurs.
You’re building a great collection on the theme, Paul  :)

Built- these are the last of my Greek miniatures. The centaurs spent over 10 years being half painted but now, finally, everything's finished.
I suppose I might buy some more figures to add to the set but, really, when does that ever happen?  ::)

You know, I never was too much into the idea of mixing mythological stuff into hoplite gaming, but your pictures and collection there make me second guess that opinion, especially the pig and Pan. :D Very, very nice looking stuff there. I shall look into the rules too!
