Plastic Crimean War Russians.
« on: June 10, 2019, 04:54:12 PM »
Have you seen what Warlord Games are giving away with the next Wargames Illustrated? It's a frame of their unreleased Crimean War Russians.

Good innit?

If you're getting the mag anyway, they are free. But if you're not, you could say it's £5.25 for 6 figures. We'll be stocking the mag:

Any idea when the box set will be released? I've been waiting for these for a long time.

This is great.  You just need so many faceless hordes of Russians to face the Franco-British allies' rifled muskets
Clear the battlefield and let me see
All the profit from our victory.

This is a clever way of hooking some people into a new period. I presume Warlord will release the box set shortly after and perhaps re-release their British cavalry in box sets too.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Greet looking infantry the Russians from the period are. That sounded a bit Yoda? I've already got four battalions of Russian infantry unpainted (Great War Miniatures) but the fun fact is for the period you almost can't have too many Russians. Bring forth the sprues.

I do hope so

I think so too, too much investment just to fill out a range, I have to say i'm a little disappointed that the British infantry regiment is not plastic but just a reboxing, looking forward to Turks in particular.

I bought my copy earlier, but haven't opened it yet. The figures look good, and their simplicity (just body & head) invalidates the usual excuse for not getting around to building them. I was a little surprised by the predominance of helmeted heads, as I had the impression caps were more common, at least later in the war, but I daresay someone can correct me.

As for future releases, I really hope for a good range of Frenchmen.

The new box set seems to have an additional cap that the test sprue didn't have.

I must admit it is the freebie figure sprues that have got me started buying Wargames magazines again after years of not bothering. It does make  them quite good value, even if I have no immediate use for some of the figures.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

Just put my freebie Warlord Russian next to a Ebor Russian and a Gt War Coldstream guardsman and some Foundry Russian gun crew.

I'd be happy to match the Gt War and Warlord and the Ebor and Foundry, but not either of the first with either of the latter.
