Tour of Duty
« on: June 17, 2019, 10:42:21 PM »

When I watched this back in the early 'nineties (some US series took a while to swim across the Atlantic), it was a subject that I knew nothing about.

At the time, I found it interesting.

With the release of a number of ranges for the Vietnam War, I managed to locate the three series box set.

Though it appears slightly dated (and the aspect ratio looks odd), it is still (at least to me) interesting.

There is a temptation to use some of the "sets" as ideas for scenery. I love the idea that they reused M.A.S.H. sets for the later series.

I have just started to work through the fifteen discs. It may take some time.

So (bearing in mind this is entertainment and not a documentary) what is everyone else's opinion?

I thought the first season was great
After that, it turned into a soap opera

I see you have the set with the original music.
I find that is the best thing about the series.
Most sets, they could not use the original music,
something due about copy write laws and not having the money.
So some ho-hum music was put in place instead.
(At least that is what I hear many years ago.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong.)
