Plastic Dark Age Irish - Wargames Atlantic
« on: June 19, 2019, 10:28:12 AM »
Anyone seen this?  ???

Tiny wee bit in the corner of their ad in this month's Wargames Soldiers & Strategy, so I had a look on WA's website and they have a rough outline of the sprue:

Looks like they will be including warhounds!

Interesting...

Now there's a gap in the market! Looking forward to seeing how these turn out.

Yes, they look interesting, but really very little to go on so far. And I’m not sure how many hounds you’ll need. But definitely agree that Celtic Dark Ages types are a gap in the market. Hope they’re good.

What size and/or scale and what type of plastic? Is there enough demand for Irish in any period to justify a plastic release? I'm interested in 15th/16th Century Gallowglasses, so would love a 28/32mm box of multipart figures, but have to content myself with metal miniatures.

You know, I always hoped for a plastic tunic/bare legged kit but never imagined there would be enough market demand to support it. Perhaps I was wrong...

If they can reasonably pass for other Dark Age Celts like Picts, Scots, Welsh, etc then I’m sure there will be a market. I don’t know if they had Saga in mind specifically, but the hounds certainly make the box appealing if there are at least 7. You can probably get a whole warband out of one box.

Oooo...that's posh! Not a lot to go on but intriguing and plastic warhounds is a plus.

Yeah, I have no ideas beyond what is posted on the WA website, but I am intrigued by it. The sprues may yet change as its just a rough outline, but the hounds look like a good idea to me and who else is going to stand up to those bloody Vikings in Dublin...?

Hopefully they will fit with other ranges so the rabble can be supplemented by some Galloglaich for a bit more punch.

And, you know, its another, hopefully decent set for the kitbash wizards to pick apart and astound us all with...
