3D Printed Palisade Walls done.
« on: June 22, 2019, 02:54:15 AM »
So I have been printing and painting a set of pallisade walls and just finished the below custom breach. I plan to use it for F&IW games as well as Dark Ages. This got me thinking, what siege equipment would be appropriate for 11th century Western Europe/England?

Here is the whole thing after printing but before painting. Files free from thingivers:https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1772033

The Breach.

Medieval Siege Weapons (1): Western Europe AD 585–1385

Battering rams, mobile towers and traction trebuchets.

Well I finished the first iteration of the fort. It's a bit small so will add a few more wall sections to allow for a moat and bailey style castle. But stretched out it makes a perfect table edge town wall.

That does look very good - well done.

I would be interested in your view about the cost compared to making it out of wood or buying the equivalent in resin.

How much did that cost to make? and how long did it take?

Thanks

Mick

Thank you all.

As for cost/time comparison. I estimate it cost about $40 worth of material, took 80+hrs to print, and about 3-4hrs of actual labor. While I could have done it all manually for a bit cheaper my current life situation would have meant the project would take a year instead of weeks. Working full time in the armed forces with a 4yr old and 2yr old boys, my hobby time is very limited. Printing allowed me to do other things while printing like spending time with family, at work, or painting other projects. Buying a resin kit would have the same time saving effect but would have cost well over $100USD.

Great looking print... I second what he said about printing... you can look at some of my posts in other forums of my prints.. the best thing about printing for me is that I can work on painting minis and other terrain pieces while my robot builds me something cool. Me and "johnny 5" (my printers name) have a great working relationship!
