Splendid stuff. I like that there is lots of space on the battlefield. I never seem to do that. I don't seem to be able to resist the temptation to cram every bit of scenery I have on to the table. But you've left lots of room for a proper big battle.

Black Powder is one of those games that I bought and never played. If I'm honest, I never intended to play it. Like a small child, I just like looking at the pictures.  :)

Thanks very much guys, this was a taster game really as I had just enough to fight with, more on the way. long way to go to get just the forces in the lead pileon table but it really helps gettign this lot on table.

In terms of Black Powder its a nice set of generic rules for the period but can become a bit Vanilla and the command rolls meant it was either going to be no moves or three moves at 12 inches a bound for foot and 18 inches for horse. We have very heavilly modified it, reducing moves by a third and re-writing the orders phase, and introduced period specific stuff to make it match the game we want. From the perspective of a gaming tool kit its ideal really.

Thanks for an interesting read and the pics are grand too.  It's good to get things on the table and I liked the scenario.  I like tool kit rules as well although in my case it's Piquet Field of Battle.

These look excellent. Are they all Foundry figs?

Excellent picies of what looked a fabulous game.  Can I ask who makes the Sikh irregular cavalry, especially those with the chan mail?

Looking at the pics, Roger's irregulars appear to be pretty much all Foundry save for a couple of Studio Miniatures kickstarter freebies.

Nice to see some Sikh wars games again.

Thanks for the comments guys.

As already mentioned the armoured irregular horse are Foundry as are most of the irregular hosre with a smatterign of Perry Afghans which beign the same sculptors fit well.

The Sikh regular foot are all Studio although I have 6 battalions of Foundry to paint at soem poitn too.

The gunners were all Foundry and so were the irregular foot.

The British are more eclectice, the sepoys are foundry but the queens regiment is Studio.

The horse artillery foundry, the foot artillery studio.

The cavalry even more eclectic with the lancers beign Perry first carlist war British, the native horse all from the excellent Iron Duke mutiny range and the light dragoons which did not make the table are from Studio.

Personallyy I like mixing ranges although you do have to be a little careful.

Roger

How does compare Studio with Iron Duke Miniatures? Are they compatible in size?

Thanks!

PS: Great game, by the way! I enjoy your reports a lot; and your modifications to Black Powder sound interesting. I have the rules, but never decided to use them. Movement rates are too big for the table I have available.

Thanks Grant I agree.

Antonio Iron Duke area bit smaller than Studio which are tall and slim for the most part and Iron Duke are generally much more dynamic figures.

Some of their Character figures are abosultely massive although also lovely. I have another Sikh Wrs battle report to write up so may try sticking a size comparison on the blog at the same time. Keep an eye on the blog.
