Thank you Ultravanillasmurf!

Here are the next four finished models. That brings me up to two complete rifle teams.

And the fourth soldier of the 2nd rifle group.

I have something like a full platoon worth of figures to paint. So a long way to go...

As a Diversion from painting ANZACs, no one wants to paint the same for to long, here is the crew chief for my H34 chopper:

and in the chopper:

Many more pictures and info about the figure and the chopper build here: https://wargamesgazette.com/2021/03/08/another-8-ball/

Nicely done!

Just a tip. Those crossbelty looking things on the gunner and his number two are actually the vinyl inners from the blow up sleeping mattress. They cut them open and used them to carry the link for the gun. Less shiny brass on show and it helped keep the ammo cleaner. They should be black.

If you want some variety, you can paint some of the toggle ropes a mid to darkish green. The nylon version was coming into to service around that time.

We opened the inner seams and used them instead of the sleeping bag. You woke up damp but you didn't have the weight of the sleeping bag.

Yeah, as designed it was a pretty ordinary bit of kit. Whoever designed it didn’t think of the tactical considerations of blowing it up, deflating the bloody thing and stowing it in a pack. The horse blanket and  silk combo was a much better idea, as was wrapping yourself in the hutchi.

I can remember falling asleep one night and dreaming about having a warm shower. I woke up and thought,’ fuck! it’s raining’ and then thought  ‘that’s nice, someone has erected the hutchi’ as I could see it above me.

I was still contemplating how they had achieved that particular feat when I realised that I had actually slid down into the green plastic cocoon, as we were camped on the side of a hill and my breath had condensed onto the plastic above and was dripping on to my face.  lol

Thanks for the tip Carlos, will use the info on the next models.

Now for something completely different....

A three wheel Lambretta

As I am slowly working on my cityscape of Hue, for the Tet 1968 offensive, I needed some of these vehicles. The three wheelers were and are often seen in Vietnam. As taxi, bus or van stand in. I got a 3D file from Thingiverse for a 3 wheeler Lambretta bus. This was printed with my Photon resin printer and then painted in the usual manner. I tried the weathering pencils from AK interactive for the rust effect. I think it works quite well.
