Wow-

I just found this thread. These sculpts are amazing. So fun. Great looking group shots and terrain. Congrats Cook.

So much new eye candy! The robots are great, but I really dig your 6mm terrain board. Great job, Andrew!

Thanks for looking! A more complete accounting (and a bunch of fluff I don't bother posting here) is found over here: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/post_apoc_wargames/last-one-out-of-eden-lock-the-gate-15mm-sci-fi-t6176.html

That’s quite the thread.

“I have been kicking around the idea of writing a book”

Looks out across the next 65! pages…..
Really fun stuff. So how’s the book coming?

Well, the sculpting and fluff is a bit of the brainstorming behind the book. As for writing it? Nonexistent.  lol I have my basic plot and characters. Might be more of a short story submission first, or I'd love to connect with a talented artist to do a graphic novel. Just staying involved with the universe, and building more lore behind it, helps in its own sort of way. I haven't coaxed up the courage to write and then find an editor.

It’s all great stuff. Congrats. And a Ratt reference! There is some twisted sister graffiti on some of the walls in my thread.

Cheers

This is amazing, Andrew! Great work!

I've started building myself a space ship, inspired by your work!

Can't wait to see your elevated version of the starship dungeon, Ock!

Ah yes, the Earth Ratt lol. That kind of infestation will impregnate your daughters and use up all your illicit drugs. It is a "take the good with the bad" type of event. You just have to stop them before they hit a global, synchronized, version of Round and Round. If you get there, your society is done for.

I wanted to make some indigenous aliens for my world. I didn't want them to be humanoid, I didn't want them to be technologically advanced (though they should be dangerous all the same) and I wanted them to have a relationship with the planet so that they were able to live off the land. From a sculpting standpoint, I wanted to be able to replicate the aliens for future additions, but I didn't want to use a push mold either.

What I came up with was this; The Bakwotter First Nation.

I liked the range of sizes, and the subtle touches that differentiate them while looking uniform.

In terms of weapons, I've been thinking of them as something like an Earth Bender from Avatar. Able to bend the material of the planet to their will. This would give them both a mystical aspect and still pack a punch if someone thought that they would be pushovers.

Those guys look really great! The idea of a indigenous population that is somewhat mystical is a great idea!

So, one of the projects that I've worked on for my project is to just have some small photo sets for taking pictures. You have already seen the starship interior set:

And the terrestrial set, though I've added some bits to it:

These have no bearing on gameplay, but I figured they would be a fun way to snap some pictures of my creations.

I am in the process of updating most of my terrestrial game pieces with this mic of brightly colored tall grass and sawdust turf. For instance, my crashed shuttle terrain:

I am hoping to put the finishing touches on my next set of sculpts (six of them) in the next day or two. Then I'll snap some pictures and start looking at my next sculpting project.

Thanks, Ock and Brummie. High praise coming from both of you.

I finished up painting my starship crew over the weekend. I need to snap some pictures of them. Next up on my sculpting table will be some generic galactic travelers and civilians. I got the wire dollies and the first round of green stuff applied. I'll snap some WIP pics of them in their "step 1" phase before I push more putty around. I think that is something that I usually don't see when I'm looking at other people's sculpt WIP pics. I'd say that by the time I see a picture the figures are 80% done.
