Help Identifying these figures please
« on: July 14, 2019, 01:47:49 PM »
I have been clearing my mother's house and found a couple of boxes of figures that I bought in the 1970s or 80s and must have left them there.   I am fairly sure that they are Warhammer 40K but have been rebased a couple of times.   I never played WH40K (they were bought for a club project and saw heavy use for a while) and I have forgotten completely what they were called.
I intend to sell most of them here as I no longer do scifi games so before going to ebay an idea of identity and value.

There are about 75 of these in varying quantities of 6-12 of each pose

These are all I have found of these ones

I think all of these are early Citadel 40k figures.

Photos have (as best I can remember)

40k Imperial Guard
Imperial Guard with a servitor (the cyborg)
Imperial Guard
I think these are the first Sisters Sororitas, but I would not put money on it.
40k Chaos Marines
40k Tyranid Termagants
40k Imperial Guard and Rogue Traders
These look like early Eldar, but I am not sure about that.

The guys at the bottom are from the space adventurers range as indeed are the female marines, which I think are quite sought after, there’s a few rogue trooper figures in there too and a hell of a lot of imperial guard here’s a useful pic for you, I’ve circled a few figures you have

If you're going to sell them, stripping them down first would be a solid idea.  Pretty easy to do.

You've got yourself a few quid's worth of old lead there.

Biostrip 20 would be my recommendation, useable on both metal and plastic (resin is a bit iffy). It's non-toxic (and won't eat through your flesh to the bone like some of the more brutal stuff on the market) and also doesn't really smell which is usually another issue with paint strippers. There's been a few threads on here about it

+1 it really is much better than other caustic options, and it will make a difference when you put them up for sale, some of them are very collectable.

its worth having a small pot of it around for redoing or rescuing miniatures from old paint jobs

The blue skinned ones look like they are a pair of the old Rogue Trooper miniatures as well :) .

These days I dump mine in Dettol for a few days. Quick scrub occasionally and sorted.

This. I have also heard that once they are clean, sticking them in a baggie of flour will remove the dettol smell.

I am quite jealous of your collection though, so many copies of so many hard to find minis! There's a handful there I would trade my right nut for (its practically unused...).

If you end up putting them on Ebay, maybe stagger them a bit as if you put them all up at once someone will report you as a recaster!  lol

This! While there are certainly recasters about, the paranoia about it from some people is really nuts and can be a pain for those of us who bought up large in the old days! When I sell multiples of rare minis I always include a small bio about how I have been gaming a long time and stocked up well in the early 90s  :)

Lovely minis by the way.
