Where to buy Balsa Wood Strips Online?

Currently I'm buying balsa wood at £0.75 for a 4cm x 1 cm x 36 inches strip (and cut it to size as necessary). Having looked online pricing seems to be a few Pounds for similar quantities. I thought what I was spending was high, but is that the case? Does anyone know where to buy it online cheaper?

Perhaps finding a manufacturer may be an option and just heading to the source. For the type of material it seems odd to be paying such a high amount for such small strips, so I thought I'd ask here if this is the standard. ...As I go through a lot of this stuff.

You are paying for processing it into those sizes. You will get a better price by buying larger sheet and or sticks and cutting them down yourself.

I buy mine from ebay - plenty of sellers.

With a 3' length you are also going to encounter shipping cost issues.  That .75 seems about right, maybe even a pretty good price.

Thanks guys. Fair enough if that's the case.

Paying 40p a piece for the fiddly bits will have to do. Cutting thinner lengths so they're straight is a pain when all you're using is a craft knife.

It will pay for itself in no time at all.

I use mine on balsa but also on styrene - I haven't bought strip stock in decades
