Hamilcars at Arnhem?
«

My reading of the Arnhem drops/landings is that only Horsas were used, can anyone tell me why Hamilcars weren't used? The distance to be travelled was greater than the Normandy drops, is that the reason?

he's not wrong you know.
You've just need to be careful with research it's often full of half baked assumptions . Once you know what's on the ground. It doesn't take much commonsense to release how it got there.
It's just some authors have preconceptions and very little commonsense.

Sixteen Hamilcars were used to fly in the 17pdr anti-tank guns of four Airlanding Anti-Tank Troops RA (1x 17pdr and 1x Morris tractor per glider). This was double the number of 17pdrs flown to Normandy. Another nine Hamilcars each carried a pair of Universal Carriers for the Para and Airlanding Infantry Battalions. Some others flew in engineering stores and IIRC, some more Carriers for the RASC. Further Hamilcars were slated to bring in the bulldozers and engineering stores of the Fourth Lift - a US Airfield Construction Engineer Battalion - but that was cancelled.
