Well, maybe the warrior hairdressers were a purposeful look then. A "well-coiffed" spin on a group that was actually rather dull in the books. Maybe dull isn't the right word. Inconsequential would be better stated. People fussed over them, but two books into the series I've failed to see them as an actual threat. I get the sense that the characters of that world feel as though the White Cloaks are bad news, but I've not seen much evidence.

The Whitecloaks become more of a force to be reckoned with later, but really it is with individuals, and the internal politics, that the Whitecloaks are most interesting for me. In particular Galad Damodred. Whom I can easily identify with.

I'm done with book #2, and it wasn't great. Not sure why it didn't capture my imagination quite as much as the first. I've been told not to even bother past book #3, so I'm going to try to get at least that far.

I got up to about book 10 if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago. I was a much more voracious reader back then with a lot more free time.

When I was younger I really really liked WoT. Sadly the story, which is actually not that bad, gets retarded and retarded. After a while I simply lost interest, namely when I had reached the last volume and I had to wait for the next.

This situation has changed by now and I was really excited about the TV show. Yet, the first minutes, the costumes, most everything wad not at all how I imagined it and I quit…

For wargaming WoT has some potential, though.

WoT definitely has some wargaming potential but that is definitely a project I can not see myself finding time for. Too many cool things to do, not enough time.

Should stand on the flag of tabletop gaming...  :)

Agreed, though it should be in Latin.

"multa excitando facere non satis temporis" - Many exciting things to do and not enough time lol

That is a lot to unpack. I look forward to seeing what you and Mrs. Gnome get up to with your pledge. In theory, I like these sets but wish D&L leaned more towards things that weren't so busy and detail intensive. More detail means a lot more paint time to get them on the table. That is always a big turn-off for me.

I hear you mate. I do find them less detail busy than GW though. The proportions on the scatter terrain can make them look about cartoonish, less so with the minis…. but there is still quite a bit of whimsy in the designs.

Looking forward to see what you do with these. I ended up backing their Gamefound campaign recently for the wilderness terrain.

As did we. I would have preferred receiving D&L 3 before having had to decide on our D&L 4 pledge but given how well D&L 2 worked for us we took the gamble.

Welcome to any modern adaption. It's not about the source material or a quality story. It's about some fanboy writer using the characters like action figures to play their own silly game out and companies pushing agendas where taking a popular series name and slapping it on this awful fanfiction is the only way it will get any attention. If we keep up these monkey paw wish adaptions we're going to run out of monkeys in the next 3 years..

How are we going to read a flag buried under 3 unopened packages, 28 unopening boxes of models from the last 3 packages and a pile of lead so tall it could be sprayed black and give a good impression of mount doom?
