Operation Waste bt Phillippe du Pirey
« on: August 25, 2019, 01:32:45 AM »
So has anyone read this book? Eye witness from IndoChina published in 1954.  The English translation or French original?

I am trying to work out which unit the author joins. The book says 10th BCCP. As far as I can see there isn't such a unit.
However his dates and locations seem to  tie in with 7th BCCP.

Am I correct?  What do you think? An  help appreciated.

Cheers John

Had a quick look in mine (english version) and he mentions being part of groupe mobile 7 at one point.

thanks

Sorry am occasional lurker these days.  I have found a listing of the all Para Bns principal engagements.  I will re-read note the places mention and see if they match any unit.

Interesting book although the translator wasn't versed in French Military terminology (hardly surprising).

Still once mis-translations are spotted a lot of the info ties in with another unit history  I have (3e BCCP)- uniform, equipment and organisation I mean.  Pirey or translator has contradictions regarding sub-unit titles.  So there is a certain guesswork in internal structure.
