Some fine work recently Pete. Were the North Africa buildings carved out of foam?
Yes Ian. I like working with the foam, just have too little of it. :-[

Thanks G. It tends to come in spurts of activity.
That is not helped by my Butterfly mentality. I tend to have half a dozen
unfinished things on the work-bench at any one time.

Quite some time ago I got a Deep-cut 'Martian' play mat. Never used it.
Then last week my mate Bob (Flatpack) said Wiley games will be bringing out a Victorian
Sci-Fi set of rules (don't know when).  Thoughts went back to the play mat
and I suggested we do the colonization of Mars.

As I didn't have a lot of scenery, I thought I would start with some rocks. They will
at the least break up line of sight.

The red mat they are standing on is not the Deep Cut Martian one. That is tucked away
& I couldn't be bothered to hoke it out just to take the pictures.

Bloggard thanks for not following Digit's example & calling me 'simple'. lol lol lol

Three CDs. I view these as ancient volcano vents that have filled with water.
A (thin ?) crust has formed over the top, so players will need to be careful.

I really am starting to feel bad for that poor blacksmith, forced to explore all manner of terrain and encounters.

Blame Vodkafan, he gave me the casting. Why he thought of me when he saw a bald headed,
bearded 'Smith' I don't know, hang on just a cotton picking minute!
I'm bald, bearded & surnamed Smith.
Painting him in Pompey (Portsmouth FC) colours was my idea. :D

No Alien landscape would be complete without:-
a) Plant life (made from Banana stalks) &
b) Some Ancient artifact for players to puzzle over.

so here they are.

Good oxidation on the artefact!
A mixture of ink & thinned paint washes, with some dry brushing.
The great thing with Sci-Fi is who knows what that element 'oxidizes' to?
