Who's got questions for Studio Miniatures?
« on: July 01, 2009, 08:27:50 AM »
Anyone who's read my recent reviews of the zombie mobs from relative UK newcomers Studio Miniatures knows how much I think of their work, and a lot of people seem to share my appreciation for their products. Well, I dropped them a note and managed to arrange an e-mail Q&A with the lads behind the scenes.

I was working on my list of interview questions when it occurred to me that I might as well ask for contributions from the LAF community. I can't promise every question will make the final list or that the Studio guys will answer all of them.

Anybody with an interesting question related to the company or its minis feel free to chime in with a reply. Let's try to keep them relatively sensible, please...

Deadline is at noon GMT Friday, July 3rd, so get crackin'!

1. Where do we find the stuff on their alternative universe EVE?
2. When do we get to see some previews?
3. Will they be sticking to the zombie genre or branching out? If their branching out, what are we likely to see?

Those are the questions I can think of at the moment.

How long before Studio Miniatures beyond the first story of EVE to some non-zombie figures?
I don\'t know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

Who are they; How did they get started; How did they get so darn awesome?

...and when do we get more mobs?

Are they still planning an additional 4 zombie mobs as mentioned on other forums?

Any hints of upcoming special zombies like the zombie chicken?

Who did they use to paint the first two zombie mobs? Wonderful job!

When can we expect more zombies?

When will more greens appear in the gallery section?

Who is the sculptor of the zombie range?

Any plans for more famous personality zombies?

Thats all I can think of for now!

Thanks!

Darkoath

This will answer one of the questions people have had.  Just saw this on TTGN, zombie mob 3.

Good catch, Digi! I guess that clears up a few things about their future releases...

Hey Curryman hopefully I didn't steal your thunder by posting that news.

Studio Miniatures have set a high standard for themselves here's hoping they can maintain it.

Don't worry about it, Digi. I'm not in the news business. I think TMP and TGN have that area covered far better than I ever could. I'm more in the reviews and features end, where there's plenty of room for one-man operations.

Thanks for all the questions, folks. I'll be typing up the final list and getting it off to Studio this evening. When the article's done I'll post a link here. Thanks again.

I am a bit disapionted in the 3rd release. Most of the figures are the same figure in the last two sets but with head swaps and an arm and a leg moved a bit.  They are still nice but not really original. (they guy in the parker is cool)
Barbarella: What's that screaming? A good many dramatic situations begin with screaming...

I just got my zombie mob three in the mail and they are very nice.  One question however?  What is the item sticking out of the chest of the zombie wearing the winter coat and stocking cap?  Is it supposed to be the blade of a spade with the handle broken off?  I simply cannot tell from looking at the miniature either in person or at the photograph posted in this post above.

Looks like a bit of wood from the picture above, otherwise I've not a clue.
