I have to confess I didn't know how much it weighed as it doesn't feel heavy in its component parts compared to the level crossing I converted ( which started me down this rabbit hole.) So out of curiosity I weighed it. Including all the bits I've added ,it weighs 700g. I'm not sure that an MDF version would be any lighter.( Card I would say probably around 500g.)
So not as heavy as you'd think.
HB,
You can find the Hornby Dublo platforms, stations, level crossings, etc on the Bay of fleas . As you going to need to repaint them it's easier to pick up the knacker ones as the railway enthusiasts want the pristine ones in their boxes. There's no real effort needed as the platforms are one piece castings and nine times out of ten the older stations are built with flat head screws. The metal level crossings are riveted together the later ones are plastic.

I'm halfway through colouring in,and detailing. So I figured it was a good point for an update.
The frosting on the windows isn't an issue as  it wipes off this type of recycled packaging . Plus I'll be using a Matt varnish so they'll frost slightly and then I'll add a false shadow. Over the varnish.
The hedges at this point don't look particularly straight.Because their not. As I've allowed a little room to squeeze some grass tufts on the outer edge of the hedge just to break up the outline

That does look very nicely done, the little parts of mossy green in the panels above the windows has come out very well. Cracking result all over.

I'm glad you all like the way it's turning out. As it's been quite a while since I've had any spare time all.
Here's a quick progress picture as I'm adding little details as and when I can.( The platform has a slight sheen as it's got a coat of supposedly Matt Varnish. Not the final sealing coat simply a fixing coat as the paint work took some severe hits from careless hand's.)
I've made some quick and rough platform benches rather than Uber neat ones just give a little more texture rather than perfect straight lines. These have detracted from the narrowness of the platform doors. I've still a set of platform scales to make, and some posters to paint. As well as grass tufts, and leaves to add ( because it's an English branch line,so leaves are an essential hazard.)

Bridge Wip. ( tsg's WW2 thread)

After a wonderfully wet English Summer.Which has left me confined to working in an office ( not my natural environment) I've taken a little time off to pick up my long stalled Home Front WW2 project.
Starting with the Bridge and rivers I've been promising to make for well over a year.

The Bridge is the most current build. However I've had things like the Felttner floating around for the best part of this year. It's unreleased at the moment.Simply  because I've not been able to get over to 1st Corps in fact due to my work load . I've not had more than a five minute chat with Simon and Mick at Partizan since the beginning of the year.( But it's cast and ready to go as and when.)

So much to love in this thread. That Flettner in particular looks grand.

Thank you.
I did add some pictures of the Felttner in the raw resin and metal on my workbench thread a while back.

What I have noticed is I didn't add any photos of the station with figures ( for scale.)

Nice station.

I would be tempted to add some Ruhrstahl X-4s on stub wings to the Hummingbird.

More pictures from the Space Museum in Leicester here: https://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2019/01/ruhrstahl-x-4-guided-missile.html
The Hummingbird is an interesting vehicle.

That's an interesting idea.
I don't know if it'd worked in reality. Partly because the Felttner was a little flimsy and an extra 130lbs + on each side might have been an issue. Given they weren't allowed to taxi with the rota's turning.
As a 'weird war' thing it'd definitely look the part.

Although I have to admit it does put me in mind of something from Flash Gordon,or Tin tin.
