That's not rust that's patina, I once ventured that to an NCO who was inspecting mi' rifle!
You could always say that Tiggy was hit by one of Oddball's
'special shells'

Harry, it’s rust at about 3 feet or more with eyes half closed and it’s rust with my glasses off ...... outside of that it’s ‘Oh my goodness, what have I done’ :-)
Too much Patina goodness for any NCO I think!
