Pulp Zombies?
« on: September 25, 2009, 08:52:00 AM »
I'd like to find some good zombies to use with my Copplestone and Artizan miniatures. Going for something in the 1910s-1930s.  Anyone have some ideas?

Brigade Games' Caribbean Empire range is roughly interwar, and has two packs of Hatian Zombies, and a pack of Voodoo Priests/Priestesses to create & control them.

Never bought Brigade 28mm stuff myself - anyone know how it compares to Pulp Figures, Copplestone or Artizan, in terms of sculpting and size?

If you're okay with the Haitian Zombie theme (which seemed to be the main "pulp" zombie genre from what I can tell) then I'd also suggest looking at Old Glory's Voodoo Warriors (OGP-27). They come with Caribbean peasant-style clothing, some carry knives, and they paint up very nicely. These blend very nicely to Copplestone figures.

Road Kill does nice some nice zombies that are non-descript enough to cover various time periods.

Have fun!

A lot of suited zeds would be usable with the right paint job, assuming you are doing an urban game - Cold Wars, Crocodile Games etc have quite a few that would "suit"...

I've got plenty of zombie manufacturers linked on my blog (link in my sig) - someone has already mentioned Eureka's zeds, that have no clothing, and thus are timeless - Black Cat also have some that would work well.

Perhaps a little too specific but Conquest do some "Mummy Returns" type Pygmy zombies and Obelisk do Desert raider and Baluchi zombies
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

If you have an overabundance of "normal" pulp minis you might also be able to convert then over to the living dead. A few cuts and wounds with a file or pin vise & add some blood & gore.
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.

Top Tip: Always twist leaft over putty into intestines...then you always have intestines for above mentioned "undeadening" of normal "alive" little men...
