Little Big Uruk
« on: July 02, 2009, 11:38:36 AM »
I'm a big fan of Warmaster, one of the best GW games. So when I saw that War of the Ring was some kind of a simplified Warmaster... Bingo! I've launched an original project : build an Isengard army for War of the Ring AND Warmaster.

Little (10mm) Big (25mm) Uruk. :)

You can see the beginning of the project on my blog, La Tribune Ludique. It's in French but pictures speak an international language. ;)

I'll gradually update that topic whith my work.

The last step made was the painting of Saruman (10mm version) :

Are they from Warmaster?

They're from Copplestone Castings and I've had my eye on these for a while.

What type/ shade of paint did you use for your nice black armour?

This is very simple : GW black undercoat then GW Boltgun Metal drybrush. I've used some brown to give a dirty aspect.

I've added a new 10mm unit to my collection.

My checklist is less "crossy". ;)

Next : a War of the Ring company.

This looks so much more reasonable than collecting thousands of 28mm LotR GW minis. Mind you, I like those GW minis but this sounds so much cheaper... and you sure make them look rather good. So where is my next paycheque?

This is a really cool project.  I look forward to seeing the whole army.  Looks great so far.

I have been thinking: Why not simply play WotR in 10 mm?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

I thought about it and it's possible. But I do think that the GW 25mm miniatures are cool so I wanted to collect some of them. :)

As I plan to collect a Rohan army in the same way, my aim is to build a whole campaign mixing the two scales.

Oh, I like them, too - they are just a tad on the expensive side for large armies. Don't get me wrong - I THINK I intend to do some WotR with GW minis at some point, but I have been very tempted to use Copplestone's 10 mm minis instead.

I agree. I think that there is a "mistake" about the real scale of War of the Ring : GW wants us to think that it's a game for biiiiiiig battles but it's "only" a game for WFB like battles.
