Many years ago on a similar war gaming forum I recommended those very Ross Leckie novels to someone. I don't know if anyone remembers Allen Curtis, he used to be a fixture on some gaming forums including this one, he's sadly not with us any longer. Anyway, he was the author of the WAB Hannibal supplement, and he scoffed vigorously at the idea that Leckie was worth reading. Mind you, he was like that, a bit of an old curmudgeon. But grumpy old git or not, I still miss him.

Anyway, for what it's worth I enjoyed those books.  :)

He wasn't too happy with it. He said they cut it (presumably for space) as I remember, and there was a lot more stuff that he'd written that was left out. A tantalizing what-if for WAB fans there to imagine what more they might have got if things had been different.
