Ogasawara & Honjo clans / Chugoku 16th century !?
« on: October 13, 2019, 10:50:04 AM »
Hi all !

I am looking for information on the Ogasawara and Honjo clans of the Chugoku region in the 16th century.

For the Honjo it seems that their castle is the castle of Hariyama in Iwami.

For the Ogasawara, I do not know what their castle was.

If you have more information, I am interested!

What year are you looking for? AFAIK the Ogasawara's main castle was Nukuyu castle (温湯城) in Iwami, but in 1585 they moved to the newly-built Maruyama castle also in Iwami (丸山城).

Very interesting !

My main period is 1520 - 1570 ( the life of Mori Motonari)

Could you locate Nukuyu Castle in Iwami province !?

Hello Osmoses

Thank you for the clarification !

I have been working for some time on a campaign system for figurines on the rise of the Mori clan in Chugoku in the 16th century.

At first, my system was too complex (I used Excell to manage!) And I decided to make a wargame, transposable for battles with figurines on the table.

It will be a simpler (but not simplistic) system where players will manage their troops and fortresses, with a simple economic system, and where the focus will also be on diplomacy (there will be about 20 clans in play) and through cards - events there will be inpondables.

Battles can be played on the game board with the counters, or on a table with figs.

And there will be ploys that can change the parameters of the battles.

The Ogasawara and Honjo clans are the last two clans to fight for the Amago, but I have trouble locating their territories!

You helped me well with the Ogazawara! If you find information about Honjo I take it!

I must be careful not to overbalance either side either: I would add the Ogazawara and possibly the Honjo with caution ...

Honjō Tsunemitsu held Yamabuki castle near the Iwami silver mine. As far as I can make out, he was related to the Takahashi of Aki province. Tsunemitsu was killed by Motonari in 1562.

Yamabuki castle was here, if you zoom in, you can see the Iwami silver mine (石見銀山) directly to the East.

It's interesting that many of the older roads seem to follow ridges, rather than valleys, unless I'm misreading the shadows and the topography?
