I've finally finished the project! Here are the last few units, now I'm done!

It feels good to be done... but now I'm wondering if I should expand the army?!? I'll say that I won't expand it until I play through the campaign at least once :)

Wow, fabulous work! Aside from the high quality, I love that each of the goblins is a painted a little differently. It adds a lot of character to the monopose figures. The basing is great, too.

As others have said- great work! I'm really impressed. Having painted a fair number of Battle Masters minis (though usually just to a "good enough to fill some back ranks" standard), I can say that you have brought them up to a really incredible level. And all of the freehand work on the shields! Wow. Congratulations!

Glad to see you're still at it!

I have five or ten I bought at Kay-Bee's when they were still around. At least five are still in shrinkwrap.  lol

Wow; that is quite the sight to behold!  :-*

I love how you've been able to stick with it and actually finish this huge amount of miniatures. And to that standard too! It truly is magnificent...

...but now I'm wondering if I should expand the army?!?...

More enthousiastic than realistic me bought a complete game about a decade ago to do what you've actually accomplished. Obviously I never even got started on them because of butterflyism ::) , but I did get the beginning going of a file detailing the addition of several other races to the game. If I recall correctly, I was drawing up armies of Dwarves, Elves and Undead (there may have been more), and I also matched the units with monopose plastic miniatures from GW's ranges, to keep the game's aesthetic going.

I remember that the unit of Dwarf Slayers would be especially expensive due to suitable miniatures being available only as singles in either Battle for Skull Pass or the first Talisman game (which was stylistically the best but also the most expensive option).

Obviously I never got on with that part either, but perhaps it's an avenue for you to pursue? If there's anyone who can pull it off, it'd be you :)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Gosh, what a phenomenal achievement! And all painted to such a detailed and high standard too!  :-*

Absolutely sensational, well done indeed - I'll bet it feels glorious to see them all laid out like that on you your table.  8)

It feels good to be done... but now I'm wondering if I should expand the army?!?

I mean... I'd love to see more, but what would you add? More of the same, or would you attempt to add some new (perhaps non-Battlemaster) units?

I feel like some monopose Skaven, Undead, Dwarfs, and Elves could be good contenders for making up a couple of units (and not be too expensive)?

Also, are there any individual characters in the game? I suspect not (named regiments is probably the extent of it...), but maybe a few painted monopose characters to denote a wizard, sorcerer, hero, general, etc., could be fun to add to a unit for a particular game or scenario?

That is amazing... I can't imagine how it would feel to open a sealed Battle Masters box set after 30+ years! I imagine after opening five and painting them the joy might have faded away though :)

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone, thanks for sticking with me over the past six years as this project came together! It's been fun for sure, and it's nice to get it done.

BattleMasters figures are what I started my miniatures painting career with.  They are still some of my favorite fantasy sculpts, bar none.  My painting pales in comparison to yours.

It is a real treat to see these figures painted so very well -- I can still see them in my mind's eye, as bare plastic, which I compare to your photos...  Wow!

I just finished painting (after almost 30 years) my Chaos Archers.  Mine only bear a crude resemblance to yours.   lol  It is a real pleasure to see your version of them.  Cheers!

If I recall correctly, I was drawing up armies of Dwarves, Elves and Undead (there may have been more), and I also matched the units with monopose plastic miniatures from GW's ranges, to keep the game's aesthetic going.

This is a great idea! I love a lot of those old monopose figs, and after reading this I searched the internet for some old Skaven... I have some of the old Chaos monopose figs that I've also posted on this thread and will likely expand the Chaos army out, maybe even turn this into an actual Chaos army by replacing the orcs with marauders and the goblins with demons or something else... And maybe I'll create an army out of my next Warhammer Old World army project... likely Bretonnia, since it will easily fit into the scheme of the Empire stat lines.

As for adding characters and other units, there's a whole world of people with different ideas and examples that I've found through Reddit, and I might do it because I have a lot of the unit bases left over that I could easily repurpose for sorcerers and monsters and other units... we'll see.

I haven't actually played since like 2021 I think, so who knows...

Thanks again all, appreciated!
