lamelar armour figures help
« on: October 20, 2019, 11:48:15 AM »
Hello all

I´m searching for some lamellar armoured figures in 28mm for a small project involving Lombard warriors, franks, goths and late romans.
Basically i need some figures in lamelar armour. Head gear is not important.
The types i´m searching are similar to the pictures.

Thanks for watchiing
Cheers

Rui

Gripping Beast Jomsvikings would work I think.

Hi Rui,

If you're looking for these mini's I'll have some Wargames Foundry from their Franks/Saxons range up for sale in the Baazar come Monday or Tuesday.

There are a few with lamelar armours in there.

Footsore's Late Roman/Romano-British/Early Byzantine range is the one that I would be looking at. Especially the "Arthurian" mini's:

Gripping Beast plastic Arab Heavy Cavalry have a number of torsos in some variation of lamellar armour.

As it looks like you get 6 torsos but only 3 riders per sprue, somebody should have some extras laying around.

Apart from the shields which seem to be embossed on most of their resin ranges :(

I suppose they are easlily replaced.

For both lamellar armours and lombard helms look at Hun Heavy Cavalry from Footsore miniatures.

https://footsoreminiatures.co.uk/collections/huns/products/hun-heavy-cavalry-2 (best choice)
https://footsoreminiatures.co.uk/collections/huns/products/hun-heavy-cavalry-1 (good but not best choice)

Hello all

Thank you for your help. :)
I´ve been checking the manufacturers/ranges you gave but so far i´m inclined either by the mounted saracens from Gripping Beast or the huns but i need them on foot so probably conversions are the best way.

Unfortunately at Footsore i could only find 3 figures with lamellar armour (1 saxon and 2 arthurians). I have the saxon witch i will convert and i will keep searching other suitable minis.

The Gripping Beast jomsvikings have 2 or 3 suitable

Cheers all

Rui

Crusader Mini's sculpts are always very crisp so you can expect these do be the business.
