Spaceship battles with solo rules?
« on: October 26, 2019, 12:52:28 PM »
Hi folks. Are there any rulesets out there for spaceship battles (any scale) that also have solo rules? Would prefer something very simple/streamlined that I can easily reskin with ships from another IP. Thanks!

Fighter & carrier stuff, same game engine modified heavily:

Essar, did you ever play Battlefleet Gothic? The Tyranids had a table where the actions of their ships were generated from surrounding preconditions - a bit like a yes/ no chart. I've often thought that I could use that as a starting point for determining enemy ship behaviour. The rules are on t'interweb as PDFs, just requires some searching.

The main issue for me would be determining the random nature of the enemy's appearance and 2 Hour Wargames has a bunch of random generators that could help with that.

I did play Battlefleet back in the day, bit never with/against Tyranids. That's really interesting though. Will check it out, thank you!

There was a great fan made solo/co-op expansion ruleset for X-wing, called Heroes of the Aturi Cluster.

Worth looking at if you have some X-Wing ships lying about.
