Replacement metal spears
« on: November 05, 2019, 11:08:36 AM »
I would like to replace the soft metal spear from a greek hoplite in 40~50mm. So it has to be taller and thicker than ones made for 20mm. Any company that produce metal spears suitable for this size?

For 40mm figures you might need something a little thicker, the Foundry pikes are thicker than the Northstar ones

You could use brass rod or piano wire which you can get in model aircraft/RC car shops though the piano wire is very hard so unless you have a hardened steel block and a good hammer you might need to heat it up before you try to make a spear point by flattening it.
Wargamers do it on a table.

Brass wire is perfect for this sort of thing, and you can make spear points easily by flattening the end with a hammer.
Or you can drill out the soft metal spear points and stick them on the end

Thank you everyone. I'll try the brass rod way.
