TYW units/photo problems
« on: November 06, 2019, 12:28:23 PM »
Hi all,

I thought I would share some pictures of some 'Regiments' I have recently finished for the Twilight of Divine Right rules. This proved to be a lot more difficult than I had originally thought.

I took some nice shots on my phone camera but no matter what I did once I transferred them to somewhere else they lost a lot. The colours became very 'washed out' and uninspiring. I tried different transfer methods and also resizing the photos after transferring with little effect.

So see attached the photos but does anyone have any tips on how to get photos transferred from a phone to online & maintain the quality?

In any case I hope you like what I have managed to get.

For starters, your figures look great. The problem may lie in the transfer directly from phone to on-line. Sometimes formats get compressed or altered in some way; I'm no expert, I have my kids handle the technical side of things but I'm using a Samsung S-9 and it takes pretty good picture even in the fluorescent light in my game-room. Hopefully there is somebody with some tech-savvy that can help.

It would help to identify the type of phone that you are using.

I take it you don't have a decent digital camera? Or access to one?

Try a phone tripod and use a delay on your phone to take the pic(?)

I always prefer my camera, now well over a decade old, to using my phone despite how much the technology has moved of with phone's.

Thanks for the replies and kind comments.

I think the problem is either the camera on the phone is not good enough or faulty. I used to have an older digital camera which I relied on but that finally broke a while back.

So I think I will have to make an addition to my Xmas list.

OK hopefully I now have some better shots that do at least some justice to some fine figures.

Great looking armies, 10mm units always look much more like armies!

The second set of photos are much better, what did you do differently?

They are 6mm figures from Baccus but you are right both 6mm and 10mm look more like armies. I will post some shots of the other units I have and they show this even more.

I just got a new camera. The same as I had so it was clearly some problem with the old one.

Impressive looking army. Old camera really was doing it an injustice.
