My most enjoyable project was my Crusades Armies.

So much colour and diversity of troops, but, lots of cavalry!

Thanks Phil. It's been a real treat so far as I've alternated between the Almoravid units and the Andalusian units, the latter being much more interesting to paint as they were less austere then their counterparts from North Africa. I'm currently ploughing my way through another two cavalry units but I've had to change the way I'm painting the horses (in the second unit) in order to have a realistic chance of getting everything completed by May!  o_o :o More on this later :)

Nice converts Atheling :-* :-* :-*

Cheers again Phil :)

The asymmetric appeal of the 'Crusades period', in Spain or the Holy Land, makes it a must for 'medieval' players. The juxtaposition of the troop types just makes the games unpredictably great.

I just love it, and I love your work too: Outstanding brushwork!

I've been slowly working on vignettes to spread across the table top and create some interest outside of the units of fighting men for the demo.

The second to be finished is a chap being blessed by his Bishop during the battle. Perhaps he is in need of reinforcement to his mettle? Perhaps he is preparing himself for the very real possibility of death? Perhaps he will just look good on the table top!  lol

You can read more about the painting of the vignette and see many more pics on my blog:

Entry- 03/02/20

So, yet another vignette that will be placed around the table at Partizan in order to create little points of interest that hopefully augment the game.

This time a priest prays (for himself?) over the body of a dying knight, perhaps in his final death throws from Cholera, a disease which, like dysentery plagued Medieval armies.

You can read more about the piece, how it was painted and see many more pics on my blog as usual:

Those vignettes are amazing! Really feels like they are getting battered by the desert sun.
