Citadel Contrast Skin Tones
« on: November 23, 2019, 08:31:23 PM »
Doing various shades of skin tones has been something I haven’t done well, so am considering going with maybe contrast paints for this part of some models.

What are the recommended paints and does anyone have example pics?

Thanks!

I have Guilliman Flesh for when I want to get a quick skin effect on a model. It works pretty well over a white/light base. I don't have any pictures of what it looks like on a model handy.

There are various charts/tables with pics of Contrast paints on various primers, available online .

Here's the first I've found:

Like Cahrn, I use Guilliman Flesh as the starting point for my pale skin painting. I expect I will usually want to add some highlights and perhaps another wash for some variation, but I think it is a pretty good effect for very little effort, and if I had a whole army to paint it might be good enough on it's own. I tried to take a photo of a WIP but it did not work because there is no daylight and my lamp light is too harsh. I did use Guilliman flesh on my little alpine gnome wizard that I posted in the Fantasy section (although that was taken by lamp light too): https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=120703.0
