Looks like this is going to be my main hobby project through the Illinois shelter-in-place order, so here's about a week's worth of additional Landsknechts! I didn't have space to pack the basing supplies when relocating, so I'll have to sort that out later...

Thanks all!

Atheling, I basically always do both. While I theoretically agree that multi-based units usually look better and more dramatic, I personally have a pretty solid mental block against basing my minis on anything but 20x20mm for infantry and 25x50mm for cavalry. I always want to at least have the option of using a given mini for Witchfinder General or Mordheim or even a tabletop RPG combat session.

Makes perfect sense.

Hi everyone, sorry for the necromancy but I just remembered this thread exists. I've made a lot of progress over the past month or two:

total landsknechts

total Swiss

crossbows

See my blog for more pics. Having completed the infantry, I now need to start on the cannons and cavalry...

Fine looking landsknecht force.  Are you going to back them up with cavalry ?

Thanks for all the encouragement!

Gendarmes are next up, I've just been dragging my feet on them because they intimidate me.

Hello Thaddeu
Really nice looking project. Great to see you sticking to it and making such great progres.

Have you thought about what rules you are going to use them for? Im always interested to her what people thing about the different rules for this period, as it is quite hard to really capture.

cheers
Erik

Hi, can I echo Erik’s question about rules. I’m fascinated by the period but have never seen a set of rules I fancy. I know Simon Miller is working on a “Renaissance” version of his “To the Strongest” /“For King and Parliament” rules, but intrigued to hear what other gamers think are decent rule sets.

Thanks for the questions! I suspect my answer will be disappointing though; I'm planning to use Warlord's Pike and Shot rules, with maybe a handful of house rules to capture the particular characteristics of the Battle of Novara. Might pick up other rules for variety at some point, so feel free to discuss...
