Welcome guys!  Glad you are enjoying the safari!

Came out a tad darker than I’d hoped but spotted hyenas on the prowl.

And I’m hoping these will turn out a couple of large termite mounds.   I’m using a lightweight filler (mixed with pva) over polystyrene cones though so only time will tell…

A few more from the hunting party.

I particularly like the Askari on the left…..I used to live among other places in Oman.  Oman had a strong link to Zanzibar which this fella reminds of…..so now I’m thinking, I must add Zanzibaris to the list! 😩

Love the new additions, especially the termite mounds.

Oooh - they look good. Also the terrain Mat. I’m going to have to start reading this topic from scratch and I’m looking forward to it a lot :D

Cheers and Gol, those are perfect thanks!  Those and the Caracals to be fair….now I need to know how to order …

I can get them from Fenris Miniatures along with the best (and priciest!) zebras I’ve seen!   Maybe next month….

Pleased to report the termite mounds dried nicely so just sanded off the rough bits and sealed it with pva…..will sand the base and paint up this week.

Once I’ve figured out the ground level grass / turf that Diablo Jon uses, I will get it ordered to finish them off.

Just realised I’d been reading the topic when it started a couple of years ago but it’s been great to re-read it. And to make me realise I need some of those pygmies…!

Rules. Mad Lord Snapcase recently sent me a copy of Adventures in Jimland by Jim Wright. They look like a really fun set of African Exploration rules and have a simple campaign element included. Maybe worth a look?

Cheers Doug, I will maybe take a look.  I have Congo on order, if it doesn’t do what I want, I will certainly try them out.

A couple of Buffalo.

Some of my favourite animals….they don’t take it lying down.   I’ve seen more injuries inflicted on Lions by these fellows watching nature documentaries than any other potential prey.  You may take umbrage with the painting….but every time I’ve seen them….they always look like the proverbial pig in shit!    Muddy horns and flanks was what I was trying to achieve….

I never thought I’d say this but after seeing those, I need some buffalo…! They look spiff. By the way, what’s your surface/mat? Is it a mat, in fact or a textured surface (which is what it looks like).

I tend to play on mousepad mats (see pics with jungle on) as I can vary the setting to suit ( I have about five different finishes I think).

But I made this board a while back to simplify my taking pictures on….I’m no photographer and I don’t mess with directional lighting, lighting boxes or any such…I just plonked the minis on this board and happy snap!

Placemat, covered in sand and painted to complement my go to figure base colours is all.

And you HAVE to get buffalo……especially as they are one of Africas big five……meaning they would give a hunter a hard time!

And a quick pair of termite mounds!  Easy terrain.  Just wish I could find a 28mm ant eater!

I’ve run out of tufts really so will add more when I stock up.
