Not the most exciting post but just wanted to sing the praises for these simple Renedra tents…..they don’t actually look too bad!

The Kirangozi gets the boy to wake the camp.

Thanks Grumpy, hopefully you enjoyed the Ngoni?  To be honest, I bit off more than I wanted to chew there…..but I’m pleased with them.

Cheers Bob…yes little bits just make a point of interest, especially as the tents are very uniform in appearance.   In fact last night, I added a parrot to the roof of another.   What the camp scene needs of course is a pile or two of clutter / luggage but that can wait.

Very quick goat herd….needs a herder but again, will have to wait.

And a pair of warthogs

You can do a few herders & use the goats in different games,
eg African, Arab, Afghanistan even dark age.

There are still herds of goats today. And jolly tasty some of the cheeses can be too.

Goat curry - hmmmm!

Well going to take a few days break as this is when I’m meant to have been playing 😩

However, there will be other times so starting to think on what I want to tackle next.

There  are still a few animals to paint for sure, and I’d like to start buying a few villagers to add a little flavour….but they are going to need somewhere to live!

One of the first tasks then is to build a small village.    I have my eye on some nice resin pieces, but I also want to have a go at doing my own.   So in preparation, I will be using these as a base.

I want to do them with teddy bear fur thatching so will be good to learn how.

I also need a lot more scenery to play on the kind of tables I like.  I have a fair bit of jungle scenery, but it’s the savannah I want to concentrate on for now.

So I marked up half a dozen place mats ready to cut out base shapes for more elephant grass and a waterhole.   I also marked up for a pair of acacia trees.  I found my stock of wire so I will start on the armatures for those….using exactly the same process as my jungle trees, but with shape and form in mind.

I need to order that bag of bark I was thinking about too.  I will need it for my eventual waterfalls, but I also need to make a kopje, smaller but similar to this to give a little height and interest to the table.

Holy elephant dung rolled around by a beetle, Batman!  I don't visit this thread for a week or two and, bloody light speed, look at all you've done.  Even War in 15 mm would be jealous methinks.  Your definition of "have to wait" may be a bit different than most of us.

Love all the animals - even some real 'herds' mixed in there.  Will watch the acacia tree process and the kopje additions with wrapt attention, on my own list of to-dos.

Alas, my own African plains project is in hiatus, more or less, as I ready some piratical elements for a convention game scheduled for mid-July.

While I will have a lot more animals than you they won't be painted nearly as nicely as yours.  Though I am thinking to fully repaint the three dozen giraffes I've already done because the second batch just doesn't match anywhere near as close as I wanted.  That will hurt.  But be better in the end - I hope.

Man, you are knocking stuff out.  I, too, am well-enamored of this thread - and inspired.  Heck, even a little annoyed that I said yes to the pirate project - but that is on me.

Oh, and sorry your friend couldn't make it - even for such a cause, I get how much of a mood-downer that can be.  I think you found the best cure, drive on and get more done.

36 giraffes to repaint - 24 more to add + 2 dead, all waiting work.  As to my sanity, I try never to claim it for fear that will result in a visit by some gentlemen in white coats carrying a funny coat with straps in the back.  And then a sojourn in a room with 'soft' walls.
