So...going to have a large herd of wallowing hippos.

I will need to modify ears and nostrils.  I’ve ordered a Wargames foundry waterline hippo set too.

That is a nice idea. And simple to boot.  :) Curious to see them pained up and based!  :D

Oxpecker = super sculpey, have at it Digits!

I found some plastic toy hippos that I 'sawed' into pieces to create my waterline hippos - in 15 mm, of course.  Not yet painted nor based so no photos just yet.  Got my adult hippos from Irregular - my young hippos from spinner racks in a toy store.

I'm a bit tempted to try and do a 'charging' hippo in the water.  Wait, did I just give Digits even more ideas on what to do with sculptey?   lol

I’ve various hippos from different places including a pair of gaping mouth plastic ones....but nearly all are on the small side.  A few can represent juvenile animals but I like the big mommas!  The foundry set is coming and I hope is a good size.

So...recap what’s happening.

I am midway through a batch of seven trees!  Armatures almost finished then onto latex.

I have the two river boat bases.  Going to concentrate on the larger one for now but I suspect these will take some time to finish.

I need to raise funds and sell some bits on ebay to complete a few figure orders but also some bits for the boats, hence the timing.

I have the first dozen or so explorers to mount and paint, along with a dozen porters.

I bought four more blowpipe Pygmies as they will feature heavily in the game me thinks.

I have parrots and crocodiles on the paint table along with the jazz band.

So....lots going on.

Things that will get done eventually.....and this will get added to....

I need to make waters edge banking, complete with tall grass etc.  I’m not going to make river sections I’ve decided, as I’ve always found it divides a table often rendering half the tale unused in game.  I will represent my rivers edge / lakeside  along the side of my table.   The tall falls piece may change that in time...we will see.

I need to build the speakeasy and tree top dwellings.  I also want some native huts but I’m undecided which and whether to make my own or buy them ready made.

Traps / pits and dangerous places......my mate wants me to build some quicksand spots....easy enough.....but I also want Punji pits, animal traps, carnivorous plants ( if I can find plastic Venus fly traps), tar pits  and giant spider webs.....

A cave entrance or two.....concealed in bush.

Lots of figures, dinosaurs etc to buy.

I’d like to find suitable totems / idols etc to dot about the forest.

Lots to do.....

Oh, and come up with rules for the game!

Have a look at 15mm dinosaurs for smaller ones, ideal foe for pigmies.

Hmmm....to be fair I envisage each player to be controlling a team of three westerners, two men, one woman, an African guide and three porters.   The latter acting as a kind of munchable buffer before the main characters start getting it.....the pygmies every bit the foe to the intruders as the wildlife.

I may even do a tribe of normal sized natives as an alternate foe.

However, I will look at all dino sizes....

Thanks for the offer Has.been, cheers.

Ps...dont Suppose you have any old itch helmets or scrap figures in pith helmets too do you?  Happy to pay for them.  Ta

Digits, for the waterfall, if you make it a corner piece the outflow can quickly flow to a waterway at the edge of the table - and keep to your plan.  I agree, a water way at the edge is likely to work better than one that divides up the table.  Good plan.  And another stolen idea!  Of course, I'll need a river and a coast line (maybe doubling as ocean beach and lake side?).

Yes that makes sense.

So, doing a batch of seven won’t work, the other two are taller buttress types but I can only fit five on my spray tray.    Need to latex these next.

Cheers.  Yes I’ve seen their stuff, pretty cool.

Hippo herd coming along.  Two more flatties to do and a little tidy up before adding paint.
