Cheers fellas!

A few more Askari foot soldiers

Edit:

So, here is what I have for my hunting party.  I don’t know if will be enough for “Congo” or not, buts it’s all I have right now.

I need the Ngoni to turn up so I have a fighting chance of getting them painted in time (I have one week now)…and I need the rules to materialise!

Seeing them like this makes me realise I need a lot of terrain yet! Lol.  I am going to have a go soon using my preferred tree building method at making acacia trees…basically short trunk and spreading limbs, so I will do a few of those.    The elephant grass will be the biggest challenge but that will all have to wait for a few weeks yet.

Are you planning on using Congo rules? I have them but have not tried them yet. Do they play solo? I painted all of my African stuff last year. I just need to use my stuff!@
🤔😕

Keep up the great work.

To be honest fella, I’ve not read them yet as I’m waiting for them to arrive.  Maybe ask me in a week or two…

Thanks all, don’t worry, lots to do as yet. 😉

Hmmm….so the thing is, I often jump on the bus long after everyone else got off!

Problem is, the moulds for a lot of these figures have seen better days and a LOT of work had to go into cleaning and assembling these tribals….two broken scalpel blades, sore and cut fingers, headaches….not fun!

And so much for random selections of minis in these packs….in the standard warrior pack, I received three each of two identical poses!   Not great!

I will paint them in smaller batches though just to feel I’m making progress.

Managed to avert near bloody disaster though.   A call to Caliver Books to request they send me the rules before I take these minis away with me, threw up the issue they didn’t even have it in stock when they took the money!   I do hate that.  Anyway, cancelled the order and ordered from Northstar, having checked first that they had it….hopefully en route.  I should have bought it from them in the first place.

On top of that, following my outsized elephant grass debacle…I received my order of dwarf hair grass, only to realise they had sent the wrong plant…because they didn’t have the hairgrass in stock, despite saying they had!  FFS! 😫😫😫

So, another refund coming but I did manage to speak to another aquarium shop to confirm the right stuff…….not a great experience!

Inspired by Diablo Jon’s magnificent thread and his great looking elephant grass, I have decided to try and copy it  a little (as they say, imitation is the best flattery!) .

Maybe won’t turn out as cool as his, but here’s where I’m at.

The two grasses he used were a “dwarf” hairgrass (see my earlier post…be careful! Lol) and a chaingrass, which will sit in the centre of each hairgrass.

I liberally sprayed these firstly with the Halfords khaki camo paint.

Then spraying the bottoms with army painter desert yellow, and the tops with army painter  goblin green.

And that’s where I’m at.   I will assemble a few, then dry brush the tips with a light green paint, let’s hope it works!

I rant out of paint but I have the same amount of aquarium grasses again so should it work, I will hopefully have a fair covering of elephant grass for the table.

That looks fantastic, I got something from ebay & its nowhere near as good (its shocking!) as what you have.
could you share where did you get it from please?

No worries, it’s this stuff you want.

If you can get it in ebay / Amazon great, otherwise ring round the aquarium shops.
