I need to add curtain doors,
Go to things like Sunday Newspaper supplements. Cut out pictures of
bright dresses, shirts, blankets, curtains etc. Cut out a rectangle that
is bigger than the doorway. Crumple it, then glue it in place (UHU around
the inside of the door will do)I then, when it has set, paint the 'curtain'
with thinned PVA glue. It protects it.

get hold of some earthenware pots
Much cheaper than buying the resin ones is what Flatpack did with his
Vietnam buildings. Some interesting shape beads & a pack of jewelry
making very small rings of wire (About a pound from Craft World).
Superglue a ring onto the top of the bead. Look at his, they look great.

Those came out a real treat. For my huts I used towel - but I like the look of your fur better, I think. See: https://frictionbmcminiatures.blogspot.com/2020/08/golgothas-terrain-huts.html

Your looks more like thatching which more permanent I suspect than the grass mine have simply thrown over the roof! Lol

I like your use of cane mats to make the walls, interesting effect!

Edit:

A couple of Vervet monkeys add a point of interest to another.

The monkeys are a great addition - they certainly add a sense of realism and no doubt some fun...

Cheers.

Ok, more elephant grass…just need to dress the bases but this doubles what I already have.   Just need a can of spray paint then I can finish about another four or five pieces.

I have a few characters to paint next, then I may start building the trees…..

Edit:

I’ve also been toying with ideas for the speakeasy…….I suspect though this is as much planning design as will get done…..lol

Dammit - I’m going to have to have a go at making some of those huts. What did you use for texturing the walls and the thatch? If I can do some half as good I’ll be chuffed.

Cheers guys.

Doug, the thatch is a fleece throw I bought from Wilko, simply brushed out with diluted pva.

The walls are simple poly filler, roughly applied to give me a coarse look.  I always mix in a little pva with it first to make it stronger and less likely to crumble.   Cracks are simply it drying out and being a little thickly applied.  I like it like that as it looks like dried mud, an added bonus me thinks.  I’m tend to sponge the filler down once applied to remove rough bits.

Love the doors and the pots and - of course - the monkeys.

Have you ever sourced from Baueda?  I'm pretty sure you can find stuff of use to you like more pots, based out of Italy so hopefully not too bad on the postage front, maybe with a UK supplier(?).

David

Following on from Pete’s message about the pots.
Cheap beads from hobbycraft.
Also get a pack of the small metal rings from the same section.
Superglue the rings to the top of the beads and you can make all kinds of pots.
In true Blue Peter style....here’s some I did earlier  lol
