Thank you both! Painting has started on the spears and bows, but pictures will have to wait as I am going away for a week.

Managed to bash together a third mounted hearthguard today. He got a Victrix norman horse instead of a gaul, as I had one fewer than I thought. Also shown the second build for this unit, built a few days ago but I believe eluded the camera until now.

Loving the hillmen conversions! You've managed to make them both a coherent looking warband and rag tag barbarians! Its excellent work!

The cavalry kitbashes look great! Quite a different style than the original donor kits. They will add some mobile punch!

Managed to paint a bit of Hillmen after returning from easter holidays. A lot of shades of brown, and I've started to mix some contrast paints (well, Vallejo and AP) into my rotation.
Bases are done with geek gaming base ready, which I really like, but they got a bit too shiny and wet looking as I put on too much scenic sealant after. Lessons learned. Still, looks pretty good I think.

And built another couple of archers to bring us up to 12 and a playable SAGA unit. Oathmark Goblin arms on these instead.

What do you think?

I think I like these figures a lot, and I really like your use of the goblin arms on the Frostgrave lady barbarians! I wouldn’t have thought of that, but they look quite natural. I’ll add some of those to my own barbarian horde, eventually.

Again I find myself agreeing. Very clever and looking good!

Thank you! The goblin arms seemed a natural fit after having established that the orc arms work well on the male bodies.

Anyway, have been able to be quite productive so here they are finished:

They are joined by three hand-swapped metal Frostgrave figures (the barbarian thief, falconer and javlineer specifically). Really like how these turned out.

And a foot Warlord. This is a Lucid Eye Cro Magnon chief with a GW darkoath axe and the falcon from the aforementioned falconer.

And having taken delivery of some Victrix late romans, I was also able to finish this Warlord kitbash. The plan now, since the Lucid Eye figure turned out so nice, is to have him wait for a Chariot to ride in.

Have to say I really like how the geek gaming base ready is turning out, making this force stand out a bit compared to my old basing style.

And another quick little update as I also got the hearthguard finished.

Those are just superb! The kitbashes all work really well together and it is fun looking for where the parts came from. The colour palette works great, too!

Yes, the work on these is incredible and all the troops have a lot of personality & unique differentiation while still keeping a very unified style.

Thank you all!

It has certainly been a productive weekend, and I managed to finish building another three hearthguard. A friend came through with three more gaul horses allowing me to kitbash these without having to buy a whole new kit of gallic horsemen. These got some new victrix goth heads, just for a bit of variation. Goblin bodies and almughavar arms just like the previous three.

And then I took a Norman horse and some scale armour legs, married it to an orc torso, some GW bits and the Arthur head from victrix armoured late roman command sprue to build a mounted Warlord. Ended up with quite a nice Odin-eqsue vibe. Wish I had a nice spear but alas, did not find anything suitable.
