Strange Sail in Sight
« on: November 30, 2019, 09:33:35 AM »
Work continues with the Black Seas model ship collection with the addition of three British 74's to join the frigate and brigs detailed in the last post

In addition, the first enemy vessel has joined the collection with the USS Constitution providing a pleasant distraction from the all that red and ochre.

I have also posted a video clip detailing some of the paints used and other modeling tips I have garnered from these initial builds.

You're building some rather fantastic ships. IMO, the running rigging makes a huge difference in appearance. Gaming wise, I think the clear bases are a great idea.

Watched your video. Very well done. I gave it a like and added you to my subscriptions.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks for your comments chaps.

James - go for it, I'm sure you would enjoy messing about with these kits.

Ray - Glad you enjoyed the read and video clip and the ideas around putting the ships together. I think the effect of the bases and rigging will be enhanced once you see a significant group of these models out on the table, to which end I am working towards.

I'm sure I would as well  lol

It would be more of a terrain thing though  :)

Looking fabulous! Need to watch the video as I have started painting the starter set ships. You can stay with the RN and get away from the "red and ochre", just do a frigate as the HMS Trincomalee - black with white trim as currently painted. Ochre masts of course!
