Perry miniatures US infantry (new pics added 16th Dec)
« on: December 04, 2019, 07:05:25 PM »
I have not painted anything for far far to long. after reading An Army at Dawn i got my mojo back and my brushes out!
Here is the first section of my US infantry. Great fun to build and paint, many more to come. Sadly my lighting isn't great in my house.

cheers
Steve

Good looking figures.
An Army at Dawn is an excellent book.
Read it a few years ago, loved it.

They do make really great looking stuff.

Awaiting late-war Germans impatiently.

Not sure the Perrys should be doing LW German, there are already hundreds of these. I'd rather see Japanese and Indian Army, USMC, Italians, Germans in Italy, etc.

The Perry brothers did already Italians, Indian army and French. Warloard Games do Japanese, USMC and Italians. Eureka do Australians you need more for PTO. Honestly, I think we are pretty much covered. :)
There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today...turn two points to port.

I would like Perry to do these because I have Perry plastics and metal for them to face. I am awaiting the arrival of the Warlord plastic Japanese but some of the sprue pictures suggest very 'heroic' poses, which I am not keen on. The Perry figures look much more natural. Which is also why I would like them to do Japanese, later Australians, USMC, I have the Empress Italians so they get a pass on that one.

An Army at Dawn is an excellent book, as are the two follow-ups (Day of Battle and The Guns of Last Light).  Atkins has started a trilogy on the American Revolution now.

You did an excellent job with those figures!  I have about 40 Warlord U.S. troopies painted up, and nobody for them to fight... but those Perry figures are so nice, I am tempted.  You are not helping.

I am on to the second book now, well worth a read. I will stay away from the new series, as I have enough trouble as it is staying on track! to many projects so little time..
