Newly Painted Protectorate Guard From Killer-B
« on: July 16, 2009, 10:39:12 AM »
Just finished painting some new retro sci-fi troopers that Killer-B have just released for their GAFDOZ game

There are three new troopers, a sergeant & an excellent officer

 >:(

you beat me to it - I'm supposed to basecoat mine today if I manage to glue the two remaining hands. I was hoping to be first one to show them off...

Excellent stuff, both your painting (especially the eyes!) and the minis. And for those who haven't ordered from Killer B before: they offer excellent service, decent shipping costs, cheap prices and really nice products, so you'd do well to check them out.

Ah you have to be quick off the mark now a days  :P

I also have one of these that I'm going use as a Protectorate vehicle, still have to get any paint on it yet though

Would have ordered them sooner but just didn't know about them ;)

Noticed that one on the GAFDOZ yahoo group (I think it was your posting) so I ordered one too.

Just need to wait for my order to go through, and decide how to paint it. First thing that comes to mind is a classic bright red/silver scheme, or maybe blue/brass. Can't decide before I have the thing on my table.

And now I have a money request from Tobsen, so you better start prepping that Seagull or I'll beat you to that one   :P

Yep that was my post

I was thinking of using the guard colour scheme & having either a silver craft with black details or a black craft with silver detailing. Will decide when I get to it  :)

How long has that Seagull been out? It looks like the tank from Commander Cody, that thing is cool, and only 19€ thats crazy.

Anyway cant wait to see these painted up.

Finished cleaning it up and glued it together yesterday - hoping to basecoat it tonight. Painting it shouldn't take too long I think, then its just the matter of having suitable weather to photograph in (still cant take decent pictures inside).

Looks like we're at the same stage!

Just deciding how to base mount it, probably something to raise it off the ground to make it look like it's hovering

I simply glued a 40mm EM4 round lipped base upside down on the bottom. I first thought about raising it a bit higher on pegs of some sort, but I always manage to snap them.

I decided that I'll go with a red/silver paintjob with minimal shading and gloss varnish - dont know how well that will work though. I also decided not to glue on the exhausts, didn't really like the way those look.

Was quite nice to work with resin for a change: I had forgotten how easy it is to glue that stuff. No waiting like with metal, superglue sticks IMMEDIATELY, which is why you have to be extra careful that you place bits to be glued exactly where you want them.

the shorter/plainer looking tubes with one end cut at an angle - I thought they were exhausts. Could be wrong, who knows..

Those are awesome. Nice detailing. The officer looks great with the touch of red on his shoulder. They are really nice looking figures. Thanks for sharing.
