Finally had a chance to start making some mess....having managed to sketch out the idea now comes phase two which will be a rough dummy model, kind of  3D sketch if you want....this is helping me get to grips with how large the finished piece will be and once I get onto working on the base it will help me establish the angle of the wreck, which in turn will determine how much more of my dummy hull will need to be cut back...

...and so....started the day with some foam board and photocopies, a few bits of card, some Pritt and several hours later I am now getting to grips with the size of the beast....next photos should be of the finished mock up

And that's just the mock-up.   :o

My fear is that the mock up might prove to have been the easy part  lol

Thanks for the positive comments chaps, it’s a great encouragement

.... and so....

Phase one - have idea.....check
Phase two - translate concept into a sketch....check
Phase three - make mock up of sketch.........check

Having spent the week hacking up foam board and bits of card I’ve got to where I’m happy enough with the layout of the piece that I think it should work on the table....along the way I also got enough idea of the details that will be needed to actually build it that I’m going to draw breath for a few days before starting the actual build proper...so here we are....dummy model completed....Trireme debris...

Mockup? Are you mad? :o

First off thats a very impressive mockup. Second that was easy?

I think you could do fine in the competition of you just painted your mockup.

Mockup? Are you mad? :o

....thanks for the kind words but in answer to whether I could just paint the mock up....well...no, because I want to see inside the hull....so on reflection - yes...am probably mad  lol

Jesus, Mary and St Patrick!

I nearly spat my tea out when I read that! lol lol lol You just got my week started with a really good laugh - cheers
