Bravery comes in all sizes - Gnomish monster hunter
« on: January 06, 2020, 08:59:46 AM »
After the significantly more complex Vlad project I wanted to paint a less involved mini.

So a Reaper Gnome it is, new sword added, monster head in left hand will follow.

So far the green overcoat and face are finished. I try to go for a shortly after the battle look.

Ahoi everyone,

and the Gnome monster hunter is finished:

I swapped her weapon with a gladius from the Agema Romans and also decided to give her a more interesting item than the small shield she originally carried.

As it happened it got again more involved, as I sculpted a Nure-onna,  basically a snake with a human head, that she defeated in battle.

Worked out well with the pose and provided me with the opportunity to experiment with gore effects.

That's a great little vignette telling a story of bravery.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Obviously I may be biased as it is a Gnome.... but great work!

Thank you, much obliged. I think the addition of the head made the miniature more engaging and interesting.

Thank you. Yes, Japanese Yokai are definitely worth a look for inspiration. I may feature other ones in future projects.

Well, Gnomes need a fanbase, too.
