Question on Galactic Heroes
« on: January 07, 2020, 10:50:07 PM »
I've just bought the PDF of this to try it out, and reading through how to put a group together, I looked at the grunts part, and that they can only have one perk. However, you can give negative perks as well, so if I give them the negative perk 'green' which limits their dice to a D8 (which they have as grunts anyway), it means I could take a second positive perk for them. Have I misread this or missed something (probably obvious lol)

Yes I read that bit, but it says or to me it seems, anyone who has a trait (or more) can choose one negative trait to gain one more positive, it doesn't state anywhere I can see that grunts are excluded - ie all can get the plus one. I'm not going to use it, was just curious, thanks :-)

Look at it this way. The rules also say you can't "double up" on trait ( take a trait twice, or an effect that acts the same as another). So taking a negative trait that imitates an existing trait would count as doubling up. However, if you want to to give grunts an extra trait pick another negative trait like "Slow".

I know he wrote the rules, I wasn't meaning to be rude!  :)  I was just confused, but the clarification regards not being able to double up on a trait makes it all clear to me now, thank you BaronVonJ - aside from my question I'm really impressed with the rules after reading through a few times, I've told my semi-regular gaming buddies I want to try it out with them next game night.  :D  (PS - I knew I had to have missed something  lol )

BE aware. The Western rules are the original. The OG Fistful of Lead. Things were simpler then. But there is a ton or sources in the form of scenarios and campaign.
At some point down the road it will be given a reboot to bring it more in line with the "modern" Core rules.
