The Texas revolution is in my opinion a very overlooked conflict,  The Alamo overshadows just about every engagement in the war (which is brief to say the least) and I don’t think many people look beyond that. It is ideally suited to war gaming with the relatively small numbers involved in just about every battle. There is the siege of San Antonio, Colonel Fannin forming a square at Coleto  Creek, Houston’s victory at San Jacinto and many smaller engagements that are perfect for large skirmish games...

Yes indeed, the Texas Revolution is among the most appealing periods for large scale skirmish actions, and the characterful Boot Hill miniatures capture the period brilliantly.  8)

Cheers,
Lance

I agree. I think what is needed is a nice choice of early period Apache.

Nevermind the Apache, why not field some real hard bastards in Comanche

I'd be happy with either, though both would be even better. :-* :-* :-*

Warlord Games has a range of Comanche

They are the old Conquest Miniatures range and jolly nice figures they are too. Some idiot around here was talking about producing some Comanches but sadly it didn't happen. ;) lol

I had a look, & I agree they are 'jolly nice', but I have a hankering
for earlier Indians. I mean before they started getting firearms,
when they were lance, shield & bow cavalry.

From my memory and without digging the figures out there are only a handful with repeating rifles or revolvers. I am not sure if Warlord Games has the entire range, but most were open handed and you could add anything you wanted from the selection of hand weapons and shields provided. (I use mine for 1830s games and there are plenty to choose from with bows and lances.)

Here they are in action:

Apologies to Lord Raglan for hijacking his thread. ;) :)

That Comanche raid looks great Nick, if a little one-sided  ;)

I remember playing a similar raid you organised at a BLAM on a fair-sized Mexican settlement with Presidials in it, that was tremendous fun  :D

Cheers,
Lance

Indeed it was fun. I think one of your Vaqueros shot a young girl to stop a Comanche warrior stealing her away.
